Picture using a remote or your voice instead from the comfort of a chair, couch, or bed. That’s a very appealing image, but one that is entirely possible! Plus, setting up one of these systems up is much easier than you think. Hunter Douglas PowerView® motorized window coverings are one of our favorite options at Dale’s AAA Blind Factory in Naples, Florida. We love talking to customers about them: It’s not just a luxury for busy homes and offices; this is a necessity that makes life easier.
How Do Motorized Window Coverings Work?
PowerView® received an esteemed Red Dot Product award for design innovation several years back, winning top honors from a pool of more than 5,000 international nominees. The entrants were judged on design quality and innovative product solutions. These super-convenient window coverings operate through remote controls and apps on iPads or mobile phones. The PowerView® Pebble™ remote control also received accolades for its attractive, upscale design.
At Dale’s AAA Blind Factory, we sell Hunter Douglas blinds and shades with the company’s PowerView® automation system. It allows you to program and automatically operate a selection of these window treatment designs, keeping rooms comfortable throughout the day. They can open and close at scheduled times or be changed as needed, all with just the simple push of a button.
PowerView® can also be optimized to local sunrise and sunset times and operate from anywhere in the world. The system also integrates with other smart home systems, but If you’d rather not use that, PowerView® voice activation works with:

- Google Assistant-Alexa/Siri/OK Google
- Siri on Apple devices
After addressing the device, you only need to say, “Open my shades.”
Benefits of Motorized Window Treatments
A window covering motorization upgrade is enough of a good thing for when you’re lounging in bed, but it can be a lifesaver for hard-to-reach windows. Climbing up on a ladder to adjust blinds and shades might not be a frequent task, but it can be dangerous enough. You won’t need to compromise your safety when climbing up to reach a window once PowerView® is installed. Motorized window treatments are also safer for homes with small children and pets since there are no dangling cords to worry about.
There’s little maintenance once a PowerView® system is up and working. It uses battery wands that take AA batteries – our team members can explain this in detail. With regular use, the batteries for an average-sized Hunter Douglas shade should last about one year.
